Description
Yet another '11 Christmas commission, this one of the main cast of an Australian-American sci-fi TV series called "Farscape", which ran for four seasons from 1999 to 2003.
In it, an astronaut called John Crichton is sucked into a wormhole during an orbital test flight, and gets captured and recruited by a group of alien ex-cons who have commandeered their own prison ship (a living spacecraft named "Moya") in an attempt to escape their captors.
I never did get around to watching all of Farscape, but remember enjoying it immensely; the writing was usually solid, the actors were versatile, the characters were interesting and fairly likeable, and the special effects (courtesy of Jim Henson productions, no less) were outstanding. Must get around to watching the rest of it sometime... :working:
Anyway, regarding the artwork: "Inmates of Moya" was a fairly easy draw, though I would have liked to colour it digitally if I had had the time. Lacking time, I focused on toning, and tried a few hatching techniques which I haven't used before. The result is okay by my standards, if a little pedestrian and cluttered.
And, for those of you who didn't catch Farscape and are wondering who the hell all these people/aliens are, the inmates of Moya are, from left to right, top to bottom:
1 Chiana (Female Nebari. Remorseless thief, shameless con artist, and a psychotic nymphomaniac.)
2 Scorpius (Male Sebacian/Scarren hybrid. A ruthless torturer, a pitiless sociopath, and a complete and utter monster.)
3 Pilot (Male Surfacer. Logical, implaccable, and symbiotically bonded to Moya, which he pilots.)
4 Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan (Female Delvian. Soft-spoken yet strong, restrained yet sensual, and able to heal with a touch...or kill with one.)
5 Ka D'Argo (Male Luxan. Hot-tempered, brutish, and a capable warrior, able to knock out a grown man with a single lick.)
6 Aeryn Sun (Female Sebacian. A trained soldier, a skilled fighter pilot, and a former member of Moya's oppressors, the Peacekeepers.)
7 John Crichton (Male human. Resourceful, adaptive, a little bit unbalanced, and a somewhat competent fighter, currently trying to find his way back to Earth without getting caught and killed the Peacekeepers.)
8 Dominar Rygel XVI (Male Hynerian. Meaner than he looks.)
