The Dragons of Fantasia

Yet another competition entry for the Madman Entertainment Fanzone. I cooked up this one for their THERE BE DRAGONS contest, which required participants to draw a picture of their favourite anime characters a) fighting a dragon, b) doing a crossover with dragon/s from another anime, or c) as dragons.

I went with option b. Here is the original description of my submitted entry, "The Dragons of Fantasia":

"When considering which franchise to pick in the There Be Dragons competition, I quickly settled on the epic fantasy seinen manga BERSERK for one explicit reason: late in the story the main villain, Griffith, shatters the barrier between the mortal world and the world of magic. In so doing, he creates a new realm called Fantasia, where strange and mystical beings (such as dragons) live alongside humans. "The Dragons of Fantasia" asks the question: "what if the dragons Griffith had summoned came from OTHER prexisting anime?" In my artwork, the hero of BERSERK, Guts, and his band of loyal followers face off against Guts' nemesis Griffith, and a small army of deadly dragons, wyrms, and half-breeds that the evil knight has summoned to do his bidding. Fireworks ensue.

Drawn and coloured in Adobe Photoshop CS3 in one very, VERY tiring day.

Since I've got characters from around ten or so different series here, I'll just say that each character and dragon in "The Dragons of Fantasia" is copyright (c) of their respective owners to save time."
