Some fanart for a pal of mine, who has a thing for "The Dresden Files".
Written by Jim Butcher, The Dresden Files are a series of novels by about a Chicago-based private detective called Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, who is also a wizard. I
In "Dead Beat" the fifth book in The Dresden Files, Dresden is pitted against a posse of insane necromancers who are attempting to use a ritual called the Darkhallow to feed off dead spirits and subsequently become small demigods. If they succeed, everyone in Chicago, Dresden included, is screwed. To stop them, Dresden uses the necromancers' own tricks against them, resurrects a dead Tyrranosaurus Rex (using the bones of "Sue" from the Field Museum of Natural History), and charges directly into the centre of the Darkhallow.
When I drew "Sue's Rampage", I was pressed for time, and hadn't read "Dead Beat" in a while. Consequently, I got several big details wrong ( A)the action takes place on a university picnic area, not a park; B) Neither Cowl nor Kumori, the hooded folks on the right, shoot at Sue; C) The Indian zombie's creator had been killed at that point, and the zombies themselves weren't active; D) the flying skull, Bob, didn't shoot fireballs at Dresden; and E) Butters, the man on Sue's tail, wasn't there-in the book, a young Spanish combat mage called Ramirez had been Dresden's wingman in the final battle against Cowl and company), and the final product is rather rough and crude as far as my digital art goes.
But hey, it's a start, and I fully intend to do more Dresden Files fanart (of a much higher quality) over the course of 2012.
Drawn and coloured in Adobe Photoshop CS3, over five hours.
